Jo Vollers

Jo has lived in East Devon for 35 years. She works from her studio which overlooks the Otter Valley. She studied drawing at The Heatherly School of Art in Chelsea and for the past 10 years her development and teaching has come from various teachers including Robin Child.
20th Century artists that have influenced Jo’s work include Ivon Hitchens, Joan Eardley and Richard Diebenkorn. Their very individual approach to painting resonates with her. Colour being all important, composition, form and a search for a new reality with paint. She loves to paint still life, inspired by flowers in her garden and favourite objects around her. The Westcountry landscape is another great inspiration for her paintings. She mainly paints in oils and acrylics and enjoys experimenting with collage. She exhibits in galleries in London, Hampshire and Devon and is a Member of The Chelsea Art Society. She takes part in Devon Open Studios every year.
