Louise Banks

I live in the estuary village of Lympstone, Devon and have spent hours in the harbour, discovering the endless potential for subject matter within this circumscribed space. I am interested in our desire to leave land and the ways we find to do this. I was born on a boat to parents who lived on the water. I like to show my working process – making brush strokes visible and revealing the paper beneath.
I was a finalist for the 2020 Sunday Times Watercolour Competition and in 2021 exhibited with the Royal Society of British painters at the Mall Galleries.
