Phil Creek is presently Chair of The South West Academy and President of Otter Vale Art Society.
Phil studied Fine Art, Painting receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Manchester University before undertaking Post-graduate study in The History of Art and Design at Birmingham University. He was Head of Creative Arts at Honiton Community College until 1990. He then became The Director of Courses at The Beaford Art Centre and later County Art Adviser for Devon. He is now a full-time painter living in East Devon.
His work explores the people, places, landscapes and seascapes of the southwest of England and the East Coast of America. He often paints en plein air, on the beach or in the landscape. Phil also undertakes his gouache, oil and larger acrylic paintings in his studio.
He has exhibited at The Mall Galleries, London, The Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery, Exeter and The Royal West of England Academy, Bristol. His paintings have been exhibited across the region, including St Ives, with The South West Academy since 2003.
His work can be found at The Georgian House Gallery, Ottery St Mary, The Steam Gallery, Beer The Brownston Gallery, Modbury and The Vandlys Galleri, Exeter.
