This series of contemporary harbour paintings have been developed through a steady ongoing study of the harbour in Lyme Regis. I sketch from life and abstract the shapes in my studio.
Each composition strives to incorporate distinct tonal values in a monochrome style, while showing a warmth that is reminiscent of a late summer day, alongside occasionally inapposite colour choices. Most recently I have developed my studio practice by spending time exploring combinations of acrylic, pastel and graphite, in order to build my personal creative voice.
I work from my home studio in the garden, where I’m lucky to have a dedicated creative space away from life’s distractions.
